Mercantile Round 2 Results

Caulfield Grammarians continued their promising start with a hard fought three-wicket victory over fellow debutantes Chilli Dogs, and sit undefeated with Powerhouse and Reds at the top of the A grade table. Carnegie made Canterbury pay for eight missed chances, smashing 7-243 to set up a comfortable win, while form batsman John Eaton powered Sacred Heart to victory over Monash Gryphons.

In B Grade, only Powerhouse led by Brent Rowley's 52 was able to make it two wins in a row. In C grade,
Moorabbin Park's Sam Shaw had the stunning figures of 9-24 to spearhead his side's win over Emmanuel. In D Grade, Gunbower avenged past canings by Barnawartha North at Straw Field. Veterans Kim Hatcher, Pat Wickham and Alby Brown all carved fifties as the Gunners ran up an unbeatable 292.

The MCA seeks nominations from all clubs for its Under-21 and Veterans (over-40s) sides.

The two sides will play their annual match this season on Cup Day (November 4) at Carnegie. The under-21s will be warming up for the Neil Wright Shield in late November.
