Minutes of the Annual General Meeting
Monash Gryphons Cricket Club

21st May 2005


The meeting was opened at 7.15 by the president, Stephen Pearson.

A quorum of the membership was declared and the annual general meeting declared open and valid.

2. The prepared Presidents report was presented to the members.

3. The prepared Treasurers report was presented to the members

4. Proposed changes to the constitution were raised as per the agenda and the prior notification given to the membership.
a. The addition of the following to the constitution: “Monash Gryphons Cricket Club accepts, adopts and is compliant with the rules, by-laws and policies of the Associations with which it is affiliated”.
b. The deletion of the following from the constitution: “Drink more beer”.

4.a, the addition, was proposed by Shelley Wilson and seconded by Kelly Morris. The motion was carried unopposed by the membership and the modification to the constitution carried. The incumbent President and Secretary to ensure this is carried out.

4.b, the deletion, was proposed by Ben Townsend and seconded by Shelley Wilson. The motion carried with 2 members opposed. The modification to the constitution was therefore carried. The incumbent President and Secretary to ensure this is carried out.

5. A motion was raised to continue the current association affiliations unchanged for the next season. The motion was proposed by Ben Townsend and seconded by Dave Bradshaw. The motion was carried unopposed.

6. All positions on the executive and committee of the Monash Gryphons Cricket Club were declared vacant and open. The Treasurer, Secretary and VWCA delegate had declared their intentions to step down from their positions.

a. For the position of president there was one nomination. Stephen Pearson was nominated by Nick Blackmore, Seconded by Ben Costar. The appointment was unopposed and the President appointed.

b. For the position of vice-president there was one nomination. David Harrison was nominated by Piyush Chhajed, Seconded by Dilpreet Lamba. The appointment was unopposed and the vice-president appointed.

c. For the position of treasurer there was one nomination. Trevor Dixon was nominated by Piyush Chhajed, Seconded by Dilpreet Lamba. The appointment was unopposed and the treasurer appointed.

d. For the position of MCA delegate there was one nomination. Piyush Chhajed was nominated by David Harrison, Seconded by Dilpreet Lamba. The appointment was unopposed and the MCA delegate appointed.

e. For the position of VWCA delegate there was one nomination. Katherine Broome was nominated by Ben Townsend, Seconded by Kelly Morris. The appointment was unopposed and the VWCA delegate appointed.

f. For the position of member without portfolio there was one nomination. Cathering Jones was nominated by Kelly Morris, Seconded by Ben Townsend. The appointment was unopposed and the member without portfolio appointed.

g. A point of order was called by the Secretary. The requirements of Monyx are that a full executive be appointed during the annual general meeting. No nominations for secretary were received and thus the position stands vacant. The Monyx representative, present for the AGM, accepted this and assured the President that this would not be an issue to the continuance of the club.

7. Other business was called for. A question regarding coaching was deferred to be the business of the new committee. There was no other business raised by the membership.

8. That being the case, and with all stated business complete, the President closed the meeting at 7.32pm.
