Life Membership Nominations Cat reports that she has recieved two nominations for life membership, one for Rohan Tennakoon, and the other for Tracy Widdows. The procedure for life membership nominations is that they are voted on by 80% of the committee and those who are already life members. Both nominations were discussed. It was moved: ‘That the committee endorse Rohan Tennakoon as a candidate for Life Membership of the Monash Gryphons Cricket Club’ Moved: Belinda Pearson Seconded: David Harrison Carried Unanimously It was moved: ‘That the committee endorse Tracy Widdows as a candidate for Life Membership of the Monash Gryphons Cricket Club.’ Moved: Catherine Jones Seconded: Belinda Pearson Steve will forward the two nominations on to the current Life Members, Craig Robinson and Don Baulch. Cat will forward the emails on to the committee. We will need to know whether the nominations have been accepted by the 1% Award Night 7. 1% Awards Night David H reported that the Gryph Inn will be organising the Karaoke machine for the 1% awards night. We will need to give them numbers by next week. We will have to give them the money on the night, and we will also have to pay for the hiring of extra labour. Belinda would like it noted that the 1% Award is not working as it should. She suggests that we look at changing the way that it is voted, perhaps so that the captain does it. It was decided that Steve should make a recommendation to the next committee about the 1% award and the Club championship as well.. The committee agrees that the award should be kept as it encourages those that do not make lots of runs or take lots of wickets. 8. Delegates Report Katherine B. reports that the club needs to do the averages for the VWCA. She also notes that the association is looking at changing the way that the competition runs: A grade will be one day and two day, B grade one day only and C grade Twenty20. Catherine and Belinda suggest that a letter be written to the Association to outline why we don’t like the changes: the competition should be made as open as possible for all players, and therefore B grade should be kept as one and two day matches. Changing it to one day matches does not allow everyone to have a go. Katherine B to write the letter. Catherine adds that Alison Chapman and Anne McDiarmid will be close to getting association awards. Steve reports that the MCA are looking at introducing a one day competition, basically to reduce the costs to the clubs. A few clubs have shown interest. Steve notes that this could ½ the ground fees. Entry fees will be lower. 9. Changeover Steve notes that we haven’t heard back from the football or soccer clubs as to when their season starts or from the council as to when the key will be ready. Belinda adds that the council would like to do inspections in the week beginning the 20th of March. The committee decided that it would be best if we organise for cleaners, as the council is never satisfied with our cleaning. David H has offered to look after the pre-season kit, including women’s gear, until training starts again. 10. Constitution Steve and Cat would like to start rewriting the constitution, sometime in the pre-season. Cat to look into this further. 11. Financial Report As Trevor is not here, the financial report is brief. We have approximately $4500 in the bank. Affiliation fees for the uni are due soon. We have to pay a fee for every Monash Student and Alumni Steve and Cat to work out members numbers Refunds and Debts will be collected and given out on 1% Awards night. Meeting Closed at 7.22 |
