Gryphons Score Top Jobs
By Shelley Baulch
Monash Gryphons Life Member Don Baulch and former President Shelley Baulch have both recently won contracts with Cricket Australia as online scorers for some of cricket's biggest international and state games this summer.
Both Don and Shelley started on-line scoring when the Gryphons committee was approached for volunteers to score some of the Women’s National League games in 2004-05.
They have scored for the Victorian Spirit for the past two seasons and Shelley was thrilled to get a gig covering a one-day international between South Africa and Australia via Fox Sports last summer. They are now contracted to provide the scoring for the Cricket Australia website www.cricket.com.au.
Shelley had her first scoring job at the MCG on Sunday, where the Bushrangers valiantly defended their meager total of 200 to beat the Tasmanian Tigers by 55 runs and notch up their first points in the Ford Ranger Cup.
“It was great to get paid to watch first-class cricket – and from the best seats in the house!”
Between them, the Baulches will score over 16 days of cricket this summer, including a day each of the Ashes Test at the MCG.
You can next see Don in action on the 29th of November when he covers the Ford Ranger Cup clash between Victoria and Queensland, while Shelley will be keeping the world updated on the Women’s National League matches between Victoria and South Australia on the 25th and 26th.
