Piyush notes that it is important that we keep the girls on the park, and we should all help with recruiting. 5. Curry Night Piyush notes that Dilpreet has some friends that own an Indian restaurant. Piyush suggests that we should speak to them to see if they can sponsor us for the Curry Night 6. Coach Review Dave would like the committee to review John’s position and how he is going as coach of the Gryphons. He notes that Matt and he spoke to John on Sunday and Monday night about some of the players not feeling like they are getting a go at training. Matt reports that the Monday night training session ran much better, and there was a good turn out. David asks that we discuss the money situation. We still owe him the first instalment of the grant, which Cat now has in her possession after delays from Monash Sport. Piyush notes that John owes the club $95 in match payments, and also Bimal’s membership money from this year. Piyush has been asking for the money from him for many weeks, and the response has been that when we pay him, he will give us the money back. Dave notes that he asked John to bring the money to training this week, but got a phone call from him this afternoon saying that he doesn’t have it. There was discussion about whether John should pay us first, or we should pay him. Cat notes that the money that he owes us is not his to barter with, and he should have given us that money as soon as he got it from the players. Matt asks what the routine is with match payments. Piyush explains that the captains collect the money from the players, and then pass it on to him. As Ben has been injured, John has been captaining the firsts, and so has been collecting the money. Bimal also gave his membership money to John as acting captain. Cat asks what we are going to do in terms of payment for John. There was further discussion around what the committee would be asking. Both Matt and Ben note that it seems a bit over the top. Cat suggests that we give him the cheque now, but set a deadline for when he is to pay us. If he banks the cheque immediately, he should be able to have the money for us next Wednesday. John King enters the meeting Piyush clarifies with John that he owes the club money from Bimal, Al and Jade’s membership, the bar tab and match payments from the beginning of the year. John responds that this is correct. It was noted that the committee have only recently come into possession of the cheque for his payment, and apologise that Monash Sport hasn’t got it to them any earlier. After discussion with John, it was agreed that the cheque would be given to John tonight, and that he would pay Bimal’s membership and the match fees to the committee next week at training Dave asks what John thinks of the way that training has been going. He asks John to forget the results. John answers that it is hard to punish the people that aren’t turning up as we don’t have the numbers to fill sides. He asks the committee what they would like in terms of discipline, and notes that perhaps we should think about only selecting the players that turn up to training in the 1s and 2s. Dave notes that there have been a few comments that there are a lot of people standing around when centre wicket practice is happening. John agrees, but notes that centre wicket practice is the best way to train for matches. Cat suggests that if there are any players that aren’t doing anything, they could be rotated through helping with the girls. Dave notes that the 3s and the 4s are the ones that need the most help with training; the 1s and 2s will most often just need pointers. It was decided that the nets should be utilised more at training, and where possible the girls should join in with drills. Meeting closed 8.30 |
