Maiden 'Ton' for Gryphon Maiden

By Donald Baulch

A significant milestone for the Monash Gryphons Women's XI was realised this weekend with opening batter Karen Taylor scoring her first 'Ton' and the first ever for the Women's XI.

Karen's score of 122 not out against Launching Place included a flourish of 14 fours in a solid knock, continued from a start of 22 the previous week. The Gryphons faced a total of 50 overs for their innings.

In addition, a record 3rd wicket partnership of 149 was achieved by Karen and Sally Whamond (61 not out) before the Gryphons declared their innings at 2/233 in the hope of snaring an outright win.

Congratulations to Karen for achieving this milestone, a task that has eluded the Women's XI side in the past, due to the compulsory retirement imposed on batters when the team played at C grade level for the VWCA.

We look forward to more high scores and success from Karen and other members of the Women's XI in the future.
