Monash University CC News

Hopefully everyone is surviving the cold weather we are currently experiencing, and starting to get excited about the warmer weather and the prospect of another exciting year for the Gryphons.
The Gryphons committee has been busy working away on the off season and will fully get into gear over the next few months to make sure the club is in the best possible position heading into the new season.
The committee have already got one new sponsor on board for season 2010/11 (more details to be announced later) and are looking into other potential sponsors to help keep our subs the best value within MCA.
To put it in perspective clubs such as Sacred Heart & Hydroflow charge around $200 to play plus $20 per week for umpires/balls, whereas the Gryphons subs will be the $80 initial payment plus $20/$15 per match depending on where selected.
If you know of any possible sponsors please feel free to contact me and the committee will look into these sponsors. Any player who helps arrange sponsorship will get a discount in their subs (discount will be dependent on the sponsorship).
Steve Pearson will again be acting as a coach/assistant coach for Gryphons Cricket Club, with his exact role to be finalised at a later date. Steve's Level 2 Coaching certificate and wealth of experience continue to make him a valuable asset to the club.
The club is also seeking a men's coach for season 2010/11 through various cricket avenues; however, finding a suitable candidate can be a difficult and competitive task, so if you know of any suitable candidates please feel free to contact me with their information.
Pre-season sessions have been booked for both the men's and women's sides. Pre-season for 2010/11 will be a combination of fitness and fielding as well as batting & bowling sessions, which will hope to give us the best possible start to the upcoming season.
Winning matches before Christmas is critical as it sets up the season, and the best way of doing this is to work hard in the early training sessions.

The club as always will be bolstered by new players who will help strengthen our sides in all grades. If you have any mates, family or friends who are interested in playing, let them know about our preseason dates or pass their information on to me and I can add them to the email databank.
If you no longer wish to receive Gryphons Emails and wished to be removed from the system, reply to this email and I can remove you from the system.
