Monash University CC News T20 Semi Final Player ProfilesBy Morgan ColeOur club Secretary Morgan Cole has put together the following profiles for our Semi Final team this Wednesday, Australia Day. Match starts 12:30pm at Fawkner Park #1, South Yarra. Shawn Thomas (c) Debut: 2008/2009 Games: 38 Role: Opening Batsman Profile: Shawn is an aggressive opening batsmen and is perfectly suited to the format of T20. After scoring a quick fire 49 last week in B grade, Shaun will be looking to get the boys of to a fast paced start at the top of the innings. Tushar Sharma Debut: 2009/2010 Games: 15 Role: Top Order Batsmen Profile: Tushar is a talented stroke player who is capable of scoring all around the wicket, in his 15 games for the Gryphon's so far he has scored 445 runs @ 32 runs per innings. Ruwan Wellalage Debut: 2008/2009 Games: 25 Role: All Rounder Profile: Roo, the A grade Captain will have an important job opening the bowling and batting in the middle order. He is the genuine quick bowler of the side, and a tight opening spell will go along way to victory. Rohit Fernandez Debut: 2003/2004 Games: 30 Role: Middle Order Batsman / Right Arm Off Spin Profile: A classy stroke maker, who is capable of playing all the shots in the book, has regularly being scoring runs over the last season. Was the man of the match in the 20/20 qualifier with 52 runs. Abhi Mishra (w) Debut: 2008/2009 Games: 28 Role: Keeper/Bat Profile: Abhi has made great progress this year in his cricket, a dangerous bat who drives very strongly, he will be looking forward to continuing his recent form with both bat and gloves. Sid Bagga Debut: 2009/2010 Games: 15 Role: Top Order Batsmen Profile: While small in stature Sid is a very impressive batsmen in full flight, elegant drives and hard cuts shots. Although he has yet to recapture his premier form from last season, the signs are that Sid is not too far off. Rajesh Balasubamonyam Debut: 2006/2007 Games: 60 Role: Middle Order Batsman / Right Arm Fast Medium Bowler Profile: A very talented all rounder, Raj has taken wickets and made runs this season. The highlight being the 48 not out which helped win the match against Nationals. Antarpreet "Bruce" Bawja Debut: 2007/2008 Games 35 Role: Right Hand Bat & Right Arm Medium Fast Profile: Bruce has had a great year so far, talking wickets and making runs. He is a flexible batsman who can bat anyone in the order, after recently carrying his bat in a 20/20 with a run a ball 50. Naresh Rajakulendran Debut: 2009/2010 Games 9 Role: Right Hand Bat & Right Arm Medium Fast Profile: Nashy is a very dangerous lower order batsmen, who can clear the ropes when required. He will also have an important job as one of the main bowlers, trying to take early wickets and keep the runs tight. Bishan Lawerance Debut: 2004/2005 Games 38 Role: Medium Fast Bowler Profile: Opening bowler who constantly bowls in the right spots, always testing the batsman patience and determination, Bish will be hoping to lead the attack from the front as the side’s premier bowler.
