Season 2013/14 Round 6.2

A big reminder about the Lawn Bowling Night on Friday night at 6.00 onwards at Elsternwick Park Bowls Club.

The night is $10 but that includes bowling a free BBQ.

It would be great to see everyone down to celebrate the season thus far.

Training is on Wednesday at 5.30pm onwards.

Results

The 1st XI have finally got over the line for their first win of the season, Bruce (44) recaptured his batting form to get us over the line 7 wickets down. The Ox & Shik also made valuable contributions with 25 & 23 respectively.

The 2nd XI have lost another close match against the top of the table Malvern. Chirag made a fine 66 batting at 3, and Sriyan was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. With some matches against some lower sides coming up, the 2nd XI will be looking to lock themselves in the top 4.

The 3rd XI has beaten the previously undefeated Burnley despite their star player Eaton making 132*. In an even batting effort Parel, Dilpreet, Nanda & Sweeny all passed 25 runs. Old Man Harro has also become just the second Gryphon to take 300 wickets.

The 4th XI have had a tight win over Maccabi thanks to some first class bowling from Fitzpatrick and De Silva, Fitzpatrick bowling 8 maidens in his 9 overs while picking up 4 wickets.

The 5th XI have gone down against Canterbury, they will be looking to recapture their form in their final match of the season.

The 6th XI have been defeated by the Salesion Old Boys, despite the best efforts of Vedaraman's 60 runs.

The 7th XI have also been defeated by the Salesion Old Boys in the one day competition.
