Monash University CC News Committee Meeting 8, 2002By Stephen PearsonSummary of Meeting Number 8 Held at East Caulfield Reserve at 9:10pm 2 October 2002 Committee present: Shelley Wilson President, chair Bec MacLeod Vice President Tracy Widdows Treasurer Stephen Pearson Secretary Angie Dickson Events Manager Natalie Abbott VWCA delegate Yadav Dharmendra Equipment Manager Mrinal Mahajan SD&CCL Delegate Apologies: Yadav Dharmendra Equipment Manager Fundraising: Rohan Tennakoon has proposed the purchase a pie warmer and a freezer, to facilitate the heating of assorted pastries and a freezer so that we can maintain a stock of pastry items to reheat and sell after matches. He generously offered to purchase the equipment and wait until the end of the current season for reimbursement. The committee agreed that this was a good fundraising and club building idea. In the interests of good financial management we have asked Rohan to provide some estimate of the equipment cost and how much profit we might expect to make each week. If the profit is sufficient to pay for the equipment over two seasons, the committee agreed to accept Rohan’s offer, and to repay him for the initial outlay by the end of the current season. Mrinal Mahajan proposed that cold drinks (sports drinks and brand name soft drinks) could be sold from an esky situated at each match. Each captain would be responsible for delegating the task of collecting payment for drink sales. Shelley Wilson proposed that the large amount of Poweraid we have received free of charge from Rebel Sport be used to replace all cordial purchases for use during matches this season. Finance: We have received our operational grant for the season from MONSU. MONSU have paid Glen Eira Council for the first instalment of ground fees and keys may now be collected from Glen Eira City Council. Stephen Pearson and Bec MacLeod to be reimbursed for payments they have made on the club’s behalf for balls and merchandise. It has been raised by senior male players of the club that $12 is too much to pay for one day of cricket. In the interests of retaining members at the club, it was decided to keep the daily match fee at last season’s rate of $10 per player. To cover the resultant loss of $924 in annual revenue, the committee will endeavour to encourage and initiate more social events and fundraising activities. Equipment: Thanks to the help of Donald Baulch, the club equipment will be purchased on Friday Night. Stephen Pearson, Belinda Browne and Shelley Wilson will unpack all new equipment and make ready match kits for Saturday and Sunday. Training and Selection Policies The training and selection Policies have been re-drafted by Stephen Pearson and will be circulated to all club members for approval before being made official. They have already being circulated to the club captains for comment within the club captains. Public Liability Due to time constraints, discussion on this matter was postponed to the next meeting.
