As our turf sides have balls provided by the MCA. Don gained quotations from Greg Chapple Cricket Centre, Knights Sports, and Rebel Sport.

Don reported that most quotes provided by GCCC and Knights Sports, could be matched by Rebel Sport. Rebel Sport are also prepared to include all purchases as part of our club rebate scheme, started 2 months ago.
The only equipment we are unable to obtain from Rebel Sport included: match balls, and stumps.

Rebel Sport has also offered to provide the club with Gatoraid, which will save the club money in cordial purchases during the season.

MOTION: ‘That there needs to be 11 voting slips available to captains for each game’.

Moved: Bec MacLeod
Seconded: Angie Dickson
CARRIED: Yes

Action: Tracy Widdows to add an additional voting slip to all captain packs

9.2. Turf Training
Discussion:
It was brought to the attention of Stephen Pearson that the men’s 1st XI captain Nirosh Weerasinghe has raised the issue that the club is required to train on turf for the men’s 1st and 2nd XI to be successful.

During last season the club had access to Turf training facilities at Monash University Clayton campus. The costs for the use of this facility were at 15% the normal cost, as we are a Monash student club. For the coming season with the growth of the Hawthorn-Monash Premier League cricket club, the Sports and Recreation Department at Clayton have advised Monash Gryphons that they will no longer be welcome to train on these facilities at Clayton campus.

Shelley Wilson has contacted other organisations about the use of the turf training facilities, including the Mercantile Cricket Association, Wesley College and Xavier College, all to no avail.

The committee agreed that the cost of turf training facilities would be quite high if we are not going to be training at the Clayton campus. In light of
The club’s current financial situation it was not seen as a sound financial decision to spend more money than the club did last season on turf training.

The committee agreed on an amount of $6 per week, as this roughly what the facilities cost us at Clayton last season.

MOTION: ‘That the club is willing to subsidise up to $6 for training facilities a week, if a turf training facility became available’.

Moved: Stephen Pearson
Seconded: Shelley Wilson
CARRIED: Yes

Action: Shelley Wilson to advise Nirosh Weerasinghe that the club is willing to subsidise turf training, if a suitable facility can be found.

9.3. Merchandise
Discussion:
Bec MacLeod reported that she would be purchasing playing shirts from Cap Capers before the next committee meeting.

Yadav Dharmendra suggested that his employer (Docklands) might be able to provide training shirts; he will be bringing a sample along to the next training session.

MOTION: ‘That the cricket club playing shirts carry the race-course hotel logos for sponsorship purposes’.

Moved: Angie Dickson
Seconded: Bec MacLeod
CARRIED: Yes

Action: Bec MacLeod to bring club merchandise to the next committee meeting.

Action: Yadav Dharmendra to bring sample shirts to training on the 22nd of September.
