Preamble Committee present: Shelley Wilson President, chair Bec MacLeod Vice President Stephen Pearson Secretary Tracy Widdows Treasurer Dave Bennett Equipment manager & MCA delegate Angie Dickson Events Manager Natalie Abbott VWCA delegate Members present: Craig Robinson Women’s Coach 2. Minutes of Previous Meeting The Minutes of the previous meeting held on 21/08/2002 were presented for acceptance, without amendments. MOTION: ‘That the minutes of meeting held on 21/08/2002 be accepted’. Moved: Shelley Wilson Seconded: Bec MacLeod CARRIED: Yes 3. Captain Elections 3.1. Women’s First Eleven Captain Discussion: Natalie Abbott applied for captaincy of the Women’s first eleven, and with the resignation of Vanessa Henderson, she was the sole applicant. Craig Robinson had a large amount of trust in Natalie’s ability as captain, and believes that the club will benefit from having an experienced captain. MOTION: ‘That Natalie Abbott be the Women’s first Eleven Captain for season 2002/2003, and any further seasons until she stands down.’ Moved: Shelley Wilson Seconded: Bec MacLeod CARRIED: Yes 3.2. Men’s First Eleven Captain Discussion: It was decided unanimously that there was no reason to dismiss Nirosh Weerasinghe as captain of the men’s first eleven. Nirosh had completed a successful season last year, and the club was very happy with his performance. MOTION: ‘That Nirosh Weerasinghe will be the Men’s First Eleven Captain for season 2002/2003, and any further seasons until he stands down.’ Moved: Tracy Widdows Seconded: Dave Bennett CARRIED: Yes 3.3. Men’s Second Eleven Captain Discussion: Lloyd Heinrich and Donald Baulch both submitted an application for the second eleven captaincy. The committee believes that this role would benefit from the experience of a cricketer such as Don for the coming season. MOTION: ‘That Donald Baulch will be the Men’s Second Eleven Captain for season 2002/2003, and any further seasons until he stands down.’ Moved: Bec MacLeod Seconded: Dave Bennett CARRIED: Yes (Shelley Wilson abstained from voting) 3.4. Men’s Third Eleven Captain Discussion: Mrinal Mahajan and Kelvin Choy both submitted applications for third eleven captaincy. It was observed by the committee that Kelvin was yet to attend training this season, and that Mrinal had been training since July. Mrinal has also attracted over ten new players to training during this time. MOTION: ‘That Mrinal Mahajan will be the Men’s Third Eleven Captain for season 2002/2003, and any further seasons until he stands down.’ Moved: Stephen Pearson Seconded: Shelley Wilson CARRIED: Yes 3.5. Women’s Second Eleven Discussion: The women’s second did not have an application because there is yet to build a team. At the next meeting it will be decided if the club is to proceed with having a women’s eleven for the coming season. The captain will be elected once the make up of the team is known. 4. Correspondence 4.1. Letters received from: Washington Park CC Re: Possible practice match on the 29th of August. Southside CC Re: Possible practice match on the 29th of August. Glen Eira Council Re: Application for Ground HireECR will be inspected on the 18th of September Glen Eira Council Re: We will have keys on the 24th 5.
