Minutes of Previous Meeting The Minutes of the previous meeting held on 20/11/2002 were presented for acceptance, without amendments. MOTION: ‘That the minutes of meeting held on 20/11/2002 be accepted’. Moved: Tracy Widdows Seconded: Akshay Atri CARRIED: Yes 3. President’s Report Discussion: Shelley Wilson reported that former men’s coach, Jayantha Wijeratne, has requested his payment cheque several times via phone. It has been investigated with MONSU, and to ensure that Jayantha is paid, he will need to be added to the payroll. Shelley Wilson reported that the Curry Night was a huge success. Shelley thanked Meagan Rourke, Kelly Morris, and Angie Dickson for their great efforts. Angie Dickson reported that there were 35 people in attendance. The profit for the night was further extended by a large number of merchandise sales. Angie Dickson reported that Southside players were accidentally kept out of the event, when they were invited. Natalie Abbott reported that the women’s sides have organised a dinner at the Racecourse Hotel (Sponsor of the Gryphons). It is planned to be a team building exercise, as well as a support of our sponsor. Action: Shelley Wilson to send payroll forms to Jayantha Wijeratne, to ensure he paid for his services. 4. Treasurer’s Report Discussion: Tracy Widdows reported that Shelley Wilson was reimbursed for purchases during curry night. Tracy Widdows reported that Kelly Morris donated her purchases for the curry night to the club, valued at $25. Tracy Widdows reported that Meagan Rourke donated her purchases for the curry night to the club. Tracy Widdows reported that she will again contact Monsu regarding the Insurance for equipment we had stolen. Tracy Widdows reported that the deposit cheque has been sent to Buronga Riverside Tourist Park. 5. Christmas Event Discussion: The Monash Gryphons 2002 Christmas Party will be held at the Racecourse Hotel, and that we have booked Saturday the 14th of December. We will be doing Finger Food, and starting at 8:00pm. We will have Monash Gryphons Santa to give out gifts, to be determined at a later date. Due to the poor attendance at the 1st event of the season it is requested that RSVP are required, and to be sent to Stephen Pearson. Stephen Pearson suggested that the price should be $10 per head. MOTION: ‘That the price of the Christmas Party be $10 per head.’ Moved: Stephen Pearson Seconded: Tracy Widdows CARRIED: Yes 6. Safety Policies Discussion: Discussion on this topic was postponed to the next meeting. Action: Tracy Widdows to distribute via email a copy of the redrafted policies. 7. Willowfest Discussion: Bec has had 20 tops screen-printed with the fighting gryphon; they will be available on the 20th of December. There is men’s number issue, as only 6 players showed an interest in going to Willowfest. Stephen Pearson reported that the Willowfest Organisers will provide the side with local players for us, so that we do not play short. Tracy Widdows highlighted the issue that the competition will run at a loss, considering the cost of match balls, and that we will collecting money only for half on each Men’s Side. It is proposed that we will need to charge, and collect $12 per game. 8. Correspondence 8.1. Letters received from: Glen Eira City Council Re: Notification that pitch on Outer Oval will be moved. 8.2. Letters sent to: Glen Eira City Council Re: State of wicket on ECR Main Oval 9. General Business 9.1. Training Purchases Discussion: Stephen Pearson reported that Craig Robinson had been actioned to price all purchases that he requested before the previous meeting. Stephen Pearson raised the issue of purchasing practice balls for training. Stephen Pearson said that we could take 5 existing new balls for the women, but will have to purchase the men 5 new balls 4 piece balls for Willowfest. Action: Stephen Pearson to purchase balls from Knight Sports, and place on the account at Knight Sports. 9.2. Meetings Attended Discussion: VWCA Shelley Wilson reported that during the C-Grade grading meeting the 35-retirement rule, and increase fines for late forfeiture were raised. Natalie Abbott reported that the A-Grade grading meeting will be on Tuesday the 10th. Natalie Abbott reported that the VWCA was holding a coaches’ workshop, and suggested that Craig Robinson be invited to attend. Belinda Browne raised the issue of contacting Melbourne Tooronga C-Grade side, to ensure that they have a side for next Sunday’s match Action: Natalie Abbott to advise Craig Robinson of the VWCA coaches’ workshop. Action: Shelley Wilson to contact Melbourne Tooronga Cricket Club to ensure that they will have players for the C-Grade next match. 10.
